Physical activity plays an important role in enhancing both physical and psychological health among older adults. However, people in their late adulthood, especially women, do not spend enough time on physical activity, as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO). To address this issue, a mobile app intervention that encourages older women to be more active, by also increasing their social interactions, was designed.

Maintaining and improving the health of older adults is not only beneficial to societies as a whole, but is also important for individuals’ well-being. Physical activity plays an important role in enhancing both physical and psychological health among older adults. However, people in their late adulthood, especially women, do not spend enough time on physical activity as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO). To address this issue, a mobile app intervention that encourages older women to be more active, by also increasing their social interactions, was designed. The project ranges from identifying the need by performing a literature review, through eliciting users’ requirements and designing an intervention based on the literature review and identified needs. The initial results from user testing under the circumstances of Covid-19 are also presented.
